I must admit that I started to rush immediately into the cover-up solutions. I’m all about editing things down—finding the neatest, quickest way to the end result. Then I realized—wait, maybe that is what got me in this situation in the first place…a lack of super serious skin care (not to mention sun worship and a by-gone past of a little hard living).
French women are admittedly all about the skin and not so much about the make-up. Always aspiring to exude my inner French femme fetale, I, too, will begin by focusing on the skin. While some will argue that a mere cream cannot really do much to arrest the aging process, I beg to differ. Science has made amazing headway into ingredients that are proving to make a true difference on the skin’s natural aging process. True, there are not miracle creams out there, but, hey, I’ll take any help I can get!
I feel compelled to point out that I am not a doctor or a scientist, but wouldn’t we all agree that there is some validity to ‘bathroom science’—do I see a difference when I use this? I have researched much and tried many—below are some of the products that have worked for me:
The night before is all-important. Assuming that I do not stay out until the wee hours, and that I follow my regime with military-like dedication, after a few weeks I have seen some serious results with these products. They all contain active ingredients (retinols, peptides, antioxidants) that over time have noticeably worked to tame the fine lines and to even out my skin tone a bit. The key here is consistency. You cannot go willy-nilly into this process—skipping nights here and there. I say this to you because I am often wont to do just this kind of thing—skincare ADD. You must be dedicated!
The most important thing to me in the morning is to de-puff those eyes. For that reason, my go to in the morning is an eye gel. So far, I have found two that really do seem to help alleviate my puffiness. Yes, they are both a bit costly (but neither is the most costly that I have tried!). Truly, I have to use such a small amount that the cost per use is not so bad. I leave them in the refrigerator. I’m not sure if there is any truth behind this, but I get a satisfaction when that cold gel touches my skin that just makes me feel like it is working better.
These are just a few products that have worked for me. I am sure that there are more out there—and I would love to hear about them. The most important thing that I have to say here is to just stick with it. None of these products work overnight. They all take some time to show results. As my mother would always say, “Patience is a virtue…” It will pay off!
Stay tuned for my number one, hands down secret weapon for plumping that under-eye skin any time of the day…
Until Next Time-
