Soft Pink Lighting

While I am not old by any stretch of the imagination, sometimes I just don’t quite like what I see in the mirror anymore. Staring back at me is not the fresh, supple, glowing face of me in my 20’s—even though inside and out I have the zest and verve of a teenager.

This little issue was really starting to bug me. I know, I should be saying “Embrace yourself at all stages of life”…”See your inner beauty”. Of course, I really do feel that way most of the time—in writing—when I am talking to you.  But every once in awhile I just think “Dang, what’s happening up there? Fine lines around the eyes…well, you get it.”

BUT, being a true optimist, I mean what is the point of dwelling in the negative, I have found a solution…Soft Pink Lighting in every bathroom.  Brilliant!

This amazing idea occurred to me one day as I was reading an article about movie starlets of the past who insisted on soft, diffused peach lighting everywhere they went. They were geniuses those girls!

Believe me, it works.  While I may stumble around a bit in my make-up drawer (it is not quite the vivid light we are so accustomed to in our day and age), I nonetheless love the way I look in the mirror. “Isn’t my skin dewy and soft?” I often comment to my puppies. “Your mama is simply ageless!” They readily agree, always in unconditional support me.

Of course, when I do happen to pop into the bathroom during daylight hours with my magic lights off and only sunlight to illuminate my face it is quite a major shock.  But that’s okay—that’s what light switches are for. One quick flick and instant soothing fantasy—quickly quelling the short lived panic rising up inside of me.

Seriously, I believe in doing what makes us feel happy about ourselves—whatever that may be for each woman. And at $27.99 for a box of 12 this is a pretty cheap price to pay for “eternal youth”!

Until next time-
